The resort was founded in 1853 by a spirited young French immigrant, Ramn Pierre Plasse, and soon became home to his lovely wife, Louise.

163 years later, Plasse's Resort, is recognized as one of the oldest campgrounds in the United States by the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds.
